FAQs and Information
I just heard about the club, is it too late to join?

No, it's never to late to join the Ballroom Dance Club. Just come to the next practice, introduce yourself, and join right in!

Will I need to bring a partner to dance with?

If you wish to, you can, but it is completely optional. In fact, most dancers do not bring their own partner.

I'm really busy with a few other clubs. What kind of time commitment is required?

There is no standard time commitment. Some Ballroomers come one time a week, some come all five.  Of course, the more often you practice, the better dancer you will become. Anyone is welcome at any practice, so stop by whenever and as often as works for you.

Is there anything I should wear to dance?

The best thing to wear is something you can comfortably move in. Girls often prefer to wear skirts. See the next question about shoes.

What about shoes? Will I need a special dance pair?

If you are just starting out, there is no need to purchase a pair of dance shoes. To practice, just wear a pair that do not have rubber soles. Other good options include socks, character shoes or jazz shoes. Flip flops or slides, on the other hand, are NEVER a good idea.

Can you recommend anywhere to get shoes at a good price?

Yes, we can. Try going here, www.showtimedanceshoes.com or www.dance4less.com .

Where can I find you?

Chesapeake A: Upstairs in the Sadler Center--go up the spiral staircase and to your right. It's the big room with the hardwood floors.

Rec Center practice rooms: Usually on the main floor. Once you go through the turnstile, turn right and walk past the weight machines to the back wall.

Fencing Room: In the lowest floor of W&M Hall. Enter on the side facing the Rec Center, through the loading dock behind the dumpsters. Once inside, turn right and follow the hallway to the end.

Little Theater: Downstairs in the Campus Center-- enter through the first set of main doors and walk immediately to your left (before reaching the second set of doors). Walk down one flight of stairs, and through the door. Little Theater will be on your left.

Trinkle Hall: In the Campus Center --head toward the Marketplace but keep walking past the Fishbowl, straight back. Ladies, please note that Trinkle has a very uneven tile floor, so heels are not the best footwear for this location.

How can I contact the club?

Simply send us an e-mail at ballroomdance01@email.wm.edu or join our Facebook group (search "William & Mary Ballroom").
