Welcome to William and Mary's E.S.S.E.N.C.E., Women of Color website! What we are about is all in the name: Educating Strength and Sisterhood by Executing a Nurturing Community of Empowerment. Our propose is to rebuild or create a stronger community among the women of color on campus. We consider the organization as a social outlet, educational tool, discussion group, and support structure. It is very important that we stress all women are welcome and though, “Women of Color” may be suggestive, we invite any and all who are interested. Membership in the organization is not restricted on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, handicap, or sexual orientation.
We will be hosting various talks throughout the semester as part of our signature "E.S.S.E.N.C.E. Discussion Series" and we welcome all to attend. Visitors please explore what E.S.S.E.N.C.E. has to offer, take some time to read our constitution to better understand what we do and why we do it. Email the organization or interact with us through our social networks! We have weekly meetings and if by chance you are interested in being a part of this group visit our "Keep in Touch" page for contact information.
Our weekly meetings are in Tyler 322 on Thursdays at 7pm unless otherwise discussed. If you are interested in coming to a meeting please email the group first. We will for the most part meet in Tyler but we might also decide to get dinner at one of the on-campus dining locations and meet there instead.
We are here to build and reach-out to our community so we only encourage the same for our visitors. Any organizations that wish to work alongside E.S.S.E.N.C.E. are welcome and are certainly encouraged. We look forward to working with the many student organizations on campus. Please look out for events hosted by E.S.S.E.N.C.E. Thank you for visiting our website, have a wonderful day!
