I. Welcome and Approval of Minutes (President)
II. Vice President’s Report a. The ballot for election of GSA officers goes out via email at midnight. We have a person running for each position. b. No updates on health insurance.
III. Treasurer’s Report a. Sarah has not received any reimbursement receipts as of yet. b. Budget stands as it was. We have $100 left in the original account. We have $300 left for the semester, so there is funding available for any last-minute social events, should we choose to have any.
IV. Senate Representative’s Report a. We do not have a Senate Representative.
V. Old Business a. Parking i. Megan Ivory attended the COGS meeting, at which the fairness of parking pass prices were discussed. The Dean is concerned about students parking on side streets at night, as this poses possible safety risks. Thus, the Dean would like to see night parking passes made available to all students. ii. The parking deck on Boundary Street sells parking passes for $250 per semester or $50 per month. Idea was raised that perhaps this parking option should be mentioned at Orientation, since many or most students are not aware of this option. b. Remainder of the Dean's Fund i. We have $534.60 left of the fund. A. We voted to spend $96 on gifts for speakers at the Arab Spring Symposium, $70 on table skirts for the symposium, $10 for water for the symposium speakers, $100 for post-symposium food & reception, $125 for colloquia, and $134 as a contribution toward the Grad Bash. B. We voted on using the $134 contribution toward the Grad Bash to purchase some sort of game(s) (e.g. bocce ball, ladder golf, corn hole) that we can reuse every year at the Bash. c. Interdisciplinary Symposium i. 8 professors have signed on to participate in the symposium. The event will take place at 2pm on Saturday, April 7 in the Commonwealth Auditorium. d. Social Events i. Discussed whether or not to host a Bowling Night at the end of the month. Since the event would take place close to exams and final paper/project deadlines, we decided to use the money from the Dean's Fund toward the Grad Bash instead.
VI. New Business a. Travel Fund i. We have 15 applications to review. Chris will accept our scores by email. We are funding at least 12 people, and possibly more if the funds are available. b. Elections for the 2012-13 Academic Year i. Vote tomorrow for next year's GSA officers! VII. Announcements a. No announcements.
