Student Legal Services (SLS) is a student-run and student staffed organization. We provide free legal information to all William & Mary students, faculty, and staff. Students from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law volunteer to work one-hour shifts to assist clients.
Please note, SLS volunteers are law students, not lawyers, and are thus forbidden from providing legal advice. It is up to you to pursue the problem on your own. However, the information our volunteers provide may save valuable time. Additionally, SLS volunteers can direct you toward information on how to seek a qualified attorney and other sources of free legal representation.
SLS volunteers abide by a strict confidentiality policy, but please note that we may have to reveal information in the case of an emergency.
Note: SLS has temporarily closed for summer break. Services will be provided again beginning in late September 2016. If you require immediate legal advice, please consider contacting the Virginia Lawyer Referral Service or calling 1-800-552-7977.
