Student Legal Services is currently looking for a new home! We will be unable to offer our services until we can make appropriate adjustments to the organization's operations. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we look forward to providing legal services in the future.
Student Legal Services (SLS) is a student-run and student staffed organization. We provide free legal information to all William & Mary students, faculty, and staff. Students from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law volunteer to work one-hour shifts during the office's operating hours to assist clients.
If you have a legal question, you may call the office for an appointment or simply walk in. A volunteer will take your information and help you to the best of his or her ability.
Please note, SLS volunteers are law students, not lawyers, and are thus forbidden from giving you legal advice. It is up to you to pursue the problem on your own. However, the information our volunteers provide may save valuable time. Additionally, SLS volunteers can direct you toward information on how to seek a qualified attorney and other sources of free legal representation.
SLS volunteers abide by a strict confidentiality policy, but please note that we may have to reveal information in the case of an emergency.
