My service to AERA consists of reviewing proposals for the annual conference, being a session chair and discussant, and being a member of the executive board. During my time on the executive board, I conducted the evaluation process for Division-J--Post-secondary Institutions. Additionally, I was the co-chair of the emerging scholars' workshop in 2007.
I have been a member of ASHE since 2000, volunteering to review proposals, working at the conference as a session chair and discussant, and mentoring new members. I have presented sessions for graduate students regarding methods, mentoring tactics, and navigating the degree.
My scholarship centers around community colleges, thus my work with CSCC supports my research interests and my professional service. I have served on the conference committee, on the executive board as a regional representative, and as co-chair of the 50th anniversary celebration. An outcome of this service was the creation of a video of the history of the council that was presented at a plenary session in 2008.
I provide service within the unit regarding curriculum, admissions, and policy. Within the School of Education, I serve on the Diversity Committee and the Faculty Affairs Committee. Within the university I serve on the faculty advisory committee for undergraduate admissions and work on the teaching project within the Charles Center for faculty excellence.
