W&M Rock Climbing Club

About The Club

We offer a motivated and dedicated group of people who love climbing. We are made up of climbers of all abilities and are always looking for both novice and experienced new climbers. We have all the gear and equipment you need - ropes, walls, shoes, harnesses, helmets - so all you need to bring is yourself. Even if you've never climbed before we'll get you up the wall in no time.

Practices

We hold practices twice a week. On Mondays we meet from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM at the Adair Gym, on Wednesdays we meet from 9:00 PM to 10:45 PM at the Rec Center.

Occasionally we will have special events on weekends, such as slacklining (its like tightrope walking, but much more fun), trips to local indoor rock gyms, climbing competitions, or outdoor trips. Any weekend events will be posted on the Upcoming Events section of the webpage, and emails will be sent out to members. Some past events include trips to the Virginia Beach Rock Gym, the Manchester Wall, and the James Madison University Reach Out Climb Competetion.

Directions

The Adair Gym (home of the Kinesiology Department and the old school gym) is located on Ukrops Way next to the Police Station, behind Swem library. Once inside, head upstairs to the main gymnasium. Make sure you bring your student ID, you need to show it to the person working in the lobby to get in. The Rec Center is located past the Caf and behind William and Mary Hall.

Membership and Dues

We don't have an attendance requirement to be a member of the club; come as often or as little as you like. Club dues are $10 a semester and are used to help pay for the equipment you use. Paying dues also allows you to go on trips and make purchases through the club gear order.
