Commodore

Commodore is the highest position held by a team member. The Commodore is charged with presiding over meetings of the team and the Executive Board, delegating responsibilities concerning everyday operation of the Team, communicating with and maintaining good relations with the Recreational Sports Department, the College Administration, and the First Colony community. The Commodore is also responsible for directing the participation and registration for Regattas, appointing the Fleet Captain and MAISA Liason, and ensuring the Mission Statement is followed and furthered as much as possible.

Vice Commodore

The Vice Commodore is the second highest position held by a team member. The Vice Commodore is charged with assisting the Commodore with the above-listed duties, and assuming them in the event of the absence, resignation, prolonged illness, or other incapacitation of the Commodore. The Vice Commodore is elected based on their leadership, organizational skills, and dedication to the team.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for handling all of the Team's monetary assets. Specifically, maintaining the bank account and checkbook, reimbursing eligible expenses incurred by Team members, handling the inflow of dues and donations, and keeping track of the balance of the team's Recreational Sports budget. The Treasurer should be kept informed of all fundraising events or efforts, and should be an individual whose loyalty to the team makes him trustworthy beyond any doubt. This position must be held by a returning sailor when possible.

Secretary

The Secretary is charged with handling all work delegated to her by the Commodore including, but not limited to, the creation of the seasonal newsletter, the handling of every-day organizational activities, and the overseeing of the signup for regattas by the MAISA Liaison. If there is no capable candidate for MAISA Liaison, the Secretary must assume all of the duties listed below.

First Lieutenant

The First Lieutenant is the tie-breaking voting member of the executive board when there is a tie due to absence or vacant position of one of the other positions on the Executive Board. The First Lieutenant is returning sailor who is willing to have various tasks delegated to him by the other officers, and has demonstrated dedication to the Team.

Fleet Captain

The Fleet Captains are appointed by the Executive board based on ability and willingness to perform maintenance on the boats (both sailboats and crash boats). In addition to boat maintenance and repair, they should be willing to make improvements to the sail site (lock boxes, floating docks, storage facility) and should know how to tie all knots that a sailor should know.

MAISA Liason

This appointed position may be held by any member of the Team. In the absence of a willing individual, the responsibilities of the MAISA Liaison must be assumed by the Secretary. They are as follows; communicate with Ann Campbell (graduate secretary of MAISA), coordinate the sign-up for regattas, ensure the payment of Association dues by the Treasurer, maintain good relations with the Association and other Teams, arrange travel and accommodations for the attendance of the annual MAISA meeting (if feasible), and communicate with other Teams regarding William and Mary's hosted Regatta.
