Steer Clear

As some of you may know, one of the Steer Clear vans was in a fender-bender this past Friday. The van had just dropped passengers on Griffin Street, and as it went to turn, came into contact with a parked car. At that point, there were no passengers in the Steer Clear van and no people in the parked vehicle. There were no injuries whatsoever.

In order to minimize damage, the driver and co pilot of Steer Clear did not attempt to move the Steer Clear Van or the parked car.

Following proper Steer Clear and Student Activities Vehicle procedures, the driver and co pilot called in Williamsburg police. The police worked to find the owner of the parked car, which was to no avail. In the end, with the help of the police officer, a tow truck was brought in to move the Steer Clear van so that damage was as minimal as possible.

The service continued with one van for the rest of the evening.

After almost three semesters of incident-free service under new leadership, it is unfortunate that this happened. However, Steer Clear’s number one priority has been and always will be student safety. Our drivers are an excellent group of dedicated, responsible students and they will continue to be trained to follow all the proper protocols and maintain the standards of the organizations.
