About Us
Club Information
The William & Mary Young Democrats are dedicated to the promotion of Democratic Party principles on campus and in Virginia. Through on-campus events, canvassing, phone banking, campaign invasions, and other activities, we strive to educate our communities about what it means to be a Democrat, and to help the Party win local, state, and national elections. In doing so, we hope to better our country, making it stronger and an even better place to live for us all. At the local level, the Young Democrats work with the Williamsburg and James City County Democrats to promote candidates in local elections for the House of Delegates, the State Senate, and Congress. The William & Mary Young Democrats is also an active member of the Virginia Young Democrats, whose conventions we attend annually. We were VAYD's Club of the Year for the 2007-2008 academic year. Member InformationWe meet every Wednesday in James Blair Hall 223 at 8:00 PM. All meetings and events are open to the general public, and membership in the club is open to all William & Mary students. At meetings, our officers will announce upcoming events, campaign opportunities, and projects both on- and off-campus. We frequently host representatives of state and local campaigns, who speak on the issues and discuss how we can get involved. We collect dues annually in the amount of $10.00. Members are not required to pay to participate, but doing so confers voting privileges in club elections and subsidization of member participation in certain club activities, including our annual banquet at the end of the year. Dues can be paid at any time during the school year, and they will cover the entire school year. |
