Professor Ekstrom earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Arizona and her B.A. in Philosophy at Stanford University.  

At William & Mary, where she has been on the faculty for twenty-three years, Ekstrom has taught advanced seminars on Free Will and Moral Responsibility, God and Human Suffering, Autonomy and Well-Being, Agency and Motivation, and Luck and Human Agency, as well as the courses Philosophy of Religion, Introduction to Philosophy, Life and Death, The Human Self, Advanced Ethics, and Advanced Topics in Metaphysics and Epistemology.

Before coming to William & Mary, Ekstrom was Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where she taught courses on metaphysics and philosophy of religion, as well as on feminist philosophy and the theory of knowledge.
