Dr. Michael DiPaola is Chancellor Professor in the School of Education at the College of William & Mary. He joined the faculty of the Educational Policy, Planning & Leadership Program in August 1998 after spending almost three decades in public schools, serving as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent. His teaching and research interests include the interactions of professionals in school organizations, school leadership development, the superintendency, and supervision of instruction.
Professor DiPaola is the author or co-author of five books, edited volumes, articles, book chapters, and technical reports on the roles and responsibilities of school administrators. The latest edition of Improving Instruction: Supervision, Evaluation, and Professional Development with co-author Charles Wagner was published in 2018. He also is co-author of the Superintendent Evaluation Handbook, published with AASA.
