About the Journal

The Monitor was founded in 1993 as the journal of foreign studies at the College of William & Mary. Our aim is to promote and publish student work that contributes a new perspective to multicultural understanding. We are an interdisciplinary publication dedicated to serving an increasingly interdependent world.

Submissions should be sent to For more information, please see the Submissions page.

The Monitor accepts papers that construct an argument about countries, peoples, events, non-state actors, or cultural movements outside of the United States. Papers may briefly discuss or compare issues to the United States, but the primary focus should be outside the country.

The opinions expressed in the articles in the journal are strictly those of the authors and do not reflect the opinions of the Monitor or its staff.
